Slovenia Denounces Israeli Law Imposing Death Penalty on Palestinian Prisoners
“An Israeli law introducing the death penalty is clearly discrimination against Palestinians,” Fajon said in a post on X. She emphasized that all individuals should be held equally accountable for violent acts and highlighted that capital punishment is not a solution.
“Security cannot be built on discrimination and justice cannot exist without fairness,” Fajon added.
According to reports, Israel’s parliament approved the legislation earlier Monday in its second and third readings by 62 votes to 48. The law authorizes Israeli courts to impose the death penalty on Palestinian prisoners, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly voting in favor.
The measure has drawn international criticism and is expected to spark further debate over legal and human rights concerns in the region.
